Abstract

The cultivation of character values from an early age serves as a vital foundation for shaping sustainable personality development into adulthood. One essential value is responsibility, as the ability to fulfill obligations, follow rules, and complete tasks independently prepares children to face the next stages of education. However, practical observations in the field indicate that the value of responsibility is not always consistently instilled, mainly due to limited strategies and the absence of systematic habituation. This study aims to describe the process of instilling responsibility in early childhood through daily habituation activities at RA Al-Akhyar NW Bagik Polak Barat. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied with teachers and group B children as subjects. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on integrating simple routines—such as classroom duty schedules, tidying up play equipment, washing hands before and after meals, and performing regular worship practices—as the main strategies to foster responsibility. The findings show that repetitive and consistent activities, supported by teacher role modeling, successfully nurtured children’s sense of responsibility toward themselves, their environment, and their learning obligations. Positive behaviors observed included maintaining classroom cleanliness, completing tasks on time, and obeying established rules. Supporting factors included teacher role modeling, parental involvement, and the availability of facilities, while challenges involved limited supervision, differences in parenting styles at home, and children’s low awareness of the consequences of tasks. The study concludes that daily habituation activities in early childhood education are effective in internalizing responsibility values from an early age. Therefore, consistency in habituation supported by teachers and parents needs to be continuously reinforced to ensure that responsibility becomes a permanent value embedded in children’s character.
