Abstract

This study aims to measure the daily physical activity levels of sports science students and identify the factors influencing them within the context of modern lifestyle patterns. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, the study involved 120 students selected through simple random sampling. Physical activity data were collected using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ-SF), while variables such as motivation, gadget use, academic load, social support, and access to sports facilities were assessed using Likert-scale questionnaires. The results show that most students fall into the moderate physical activity category (55.8%), while 15% are categorised as low an alarming finding considering their background as sports students. The average daily gadget use reached 5.7 hours, academic load was in the high category, and access to facilities as well as social support fell into the moderate category. The discussion reveals that excessive digital exposure and academic pressures are the main determinants reducing physical activity, while strong intrinsic motivation has not fully translated into active behaviour due to environmental and time constraints. These findings highlight the need for multi-level interventions, including academic load management, screen-time reduction, improved facility access, and enhanced social support, to promote a consistent active lifestyle among sports science students.
